Last weekend (Memorial day) I took my son, Matt out fishing at 5 AM. After battling with the fog, and many clueless boaters who didn’t have radar, we managed to snag ourselves a few live Bunker (baitfish). Using these we set out live-lines with our rods in free-spool.
It didn’t take long before Matt’s rod started singing out with a big fish swimming off with his bait. He masterfully flipped the bail and set the hook… Well, 10 minutes later I almost broke my net hoisting the 30 pounder over the gunwhale. Not only was this his first solo fish, but, probably the biggest one he’ll catch for some time!
